Individual Counseling
Wherever you are. . …I imagine you’re hurting right now.
“I’m miserable and depressed.”
One failed attempt after another at making my dream of becoming a successful entrepreneur a reality. Everyone else I know seems to be achieving their dreams.
“Relationships are just too painful.”
One bad break up after another; I can’t seem to find the ONE I’m supposed to spend the rest of my life with.
“I have no motivation to keep trying at life.”
At every turn, there’s an obstacle that prevents me from hanging in there.
A business fails, and I won’t try again. The loss is too great. So, I give up.
“I’m in so much pain. I want it to stop!”
The pain of moving forward, to then fail, is too much to bear. The losses are piled high, and I can’t see a way out.
“I feel like a failure.”
It rings through my head every time I fail… which seems like it’s all the time. When I went for that promotion at work, someone else got it. I started my own business, but I can’t seem to get it off the ground.
My mother used to tell me I was a failure. Maybe she was right.
“I just want to give up.”
I’m so sick of it all, and nothing I do eases the pain. My constant worrying, eating, and working doesn’t make me feel any better. In fact, I feel worse!
"I need help, but I don’t know where to start."
Does change seem impossible?
Change doesn’t seem possible when you approach solving the issues in the same way, every time. You know the saying, “Doing the same thing over and over again expecting a different outcome is insanity.”
Well, it is.
When you can’t see a way out, you can’t see a fresh perspective in approaching the issue. That’s why you need an objective person who can guide you through the process of expanding your mind so you can see the possibilities. They are ENDLESS, and the right one is waiting for you to find it!
I know that finding a counselor can be overwhelming.
First of all, you probably still have the nagging feeling that you can work out your problems on your own.
You might also have been raised to think that your issues are your business and no one else’s – that “what happens in the family stays in the family.”
And looking for a counselor online is no easy task. There are countless reviews on Yelp, and those reviews are all over the place.
It seems hopeless. So, even if you’re drowning in despair and engulfed in shame, you put it off. Instead, you resort to comforting yourself with your favorite coping mechanism, and then you feel even worse.
I understand that you’re in a dark hole and need a hand.
Grab mine. Don’t wait. Do it now.
It’s scary starting your journey of emotional healing. I know… I’ve been there and continue to be in the journey of healing. I’m here to tell you that if you’ve ever wondered, “Will Christian counseling work for me?” The answer is a resounding “YES!” if you commit to it and do the work, even when it gets scary.
I will guide you every step of your journey to healing, restoration, and transformation.
Along with me, the Holy Spirit will reveal things to you that you’ve kept hidden because they were just too painful to remember. With gentleness and compassion, I’ll lead you as you unearth all the “yuck,” bring it into the light, release it, and experience healing that will free you and move you forward.
Together, we will get to the root of your issues, never to return to that place again. You’ll wonder why you didn’t start this journey years ago!
Here’s how we’ll partner together to get you back on track…
Getting started…. .
Our first couple of sessions will allow us to get to know one another. Together, we will establish trust and create a safe environment for you to do your work.
Individual counseling is about you. It’s a place to come be heard, seen, valued, and accepted. There’s no judgment or condemnation.
You will share what brought you to counseling. As we work together, it may be revealed that the reason you think you need counseling isn’t the root issue. I ask that you be flexible and trust me and where you’re being led. It’s not a linear process; it’s a long and winding road. And trust the Lord, as He will never lead you anywhere you’re not ready to go.
If you don’t know where you’re going, you’ll end up somewhere else.
There’s nothing worse than getting into your car and not know where you’re going. You keep driving, thinking you’ll get to your destination, but you end up in a place where you hadn’t planned on going.
Counseling is a lot like driving a car. You can get in, drive, and do not know where you’ll end up – or you can plan your destination with thought and intention.
In our counseling sessions, we’ll talk about your hopes, dreams, and where you want to be in your life – now and down the road. We’ll look back together to see where you came from and how it’s influenced your present, then we’ll focus on forging a different path for a hopeful present and brighter future.
We will discuss the goals you want to achieve during our time together, as well as practical and realistic steps you can take to achieve those goals. If timelines need to be adjusted, then we will discuss that, too.
This is YOUR car, and you get to drive. I’m along for the ride, offering insight and input to prevent you from crashing again.
Practical steps to freedom. . .
In each of our sessions, we will work together to identify practical applications for change in your journey. This will keep you moving forward as you experience true healing and hope.
You will come up with what you want to do. I’m here to help you determine if the goal is realistic, given your time frame for accomplishing it. It can be as simple as taking your dog (if you have one) for a walk or getting yourself into a healthier physical, mental, or emotional state (these things are related!).
